OAS Secretary General Speaks with Regional Leaders during CELAC Summit

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, spoke with the President of Cuba, Raúl Castro, in the context of the official dinner of the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held in Havana.

The chief representative of the OAS and the Cuban leader spoke during the event, which was attended by 32 leaders from the region. President Castro thanked Secretary General Insulza for his presence at the meeting.

During the Summit, Secretary General Insulza also spoke with the Presidents of Brazil, Dilma Roussef; Haiti, Michel Martelly; Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto; Paraguay, Horacio Cartes; the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina; and Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, as well as the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, and the Chilean President-elect, Michelle Bachelet.

In addition the OAS leader met with the Executive President of the Latin American Development Bank (CAF), Enrique García, and the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Bárcena. He also greeted the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon.
