OAS Secretary General Met with Ministers Responsible for Security of Costa Rica, United States and Guatemala

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, today met with the authorities responsible for security from Costa Rica, the United States, and Guatemala attending the ministerial meeting on Public Security of the Americas (MISPA), sponsored by the hemispheric institution between yesterday and today in Medellin, Colombia.

The OAS leader held bilateral meetings with the Minister of the Interior, Police and Security of Costa Rica, Mario Zamora; the Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder; and the Minister of the Interior of Guatemala, Mauricio López Bonilla.

During the meetings, the Secretary General and the senior authorities from the region discussed the best ways of increasing international cooperation on security, the central issue of MISPA, and how to amplify the cooperation between the American Police Community (AMERIPOL) and the OAS.
