OAS Secretary General Met with the President of Bolivia

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, met today with the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, in the Palace of Government in La Paz.

During the meeting, the two reviewed the economic and political situation in the region. President Morales thanked the Secretary General for his visit and his constant support, reiterated the interest of his government in receiving an OAS observation mission during the next general election, and expressed his interest in the ongoing discussion between the member states over the strategic vision of the Organization.

The OAS leader, in turn, invited President Morales to visit the headquarters of the multilateral institution in Washington and present his vision for the future of the OAS, confirmed the availability of the entity to monitor the electoral process and also praised the economic situation in Bolivia, as well as the latest developments in social and rural issues.
