The government of Israel is interested in deepening its cooperation with the countries of the Americas, Ambassador Pinchas Avivi told Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) José Miguel Insulza today.

Ambassador Avivi, who is the Political Director for Multilateral, Global and Strategic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, communicated this interest to Secretary General Insulza during their meeting in the city of La Antigua Guatemala, where the forty-third regular session of the OAS General Assembly comes to a close today. Areas in which Israeli support could be more effective relate to water resources, energy, security, and technological innovation, the official revealed.

OAS Secretary for External Affairs, Ambassador Alfonso Quiñonez, was also present at that meeting.
