The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Central Electoral Board (JCE) of the Dominican Republic agreed today to modernize the electoral processes of the Caribbean country in accordance with international best practices.

The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, emphasized that this step will modernize and provide greater transparency to the Dominican Republic's electoral system. "Through this agreement we renew our commitment to Dominican democracy, its institutions and its citizens," said Secretary General Almagro.
For his part, the President of the JCE, Román Jáquez, said the agreement provides for the application of several ISO norms, which meet the highest international standards. "For the Central Electoral Board this ongoing technical cooperation with the OAS is of great relevance in seeking to establish the integrity of future electoral processes," he said.

The objective of the agreement is to implement an Integrated Management System, composed of different international standards such as Electoral Quality, Business Continuity, Information Security and Privacy, Cybersecurity and an Incident Response Center.
