Presentation of the Prototype for the Individual Petition System Portal of the IACHR

October 22, 2014

As a result of the dialogue conducted during the process of strengthening the Inter-American Human Rights System, the Inter-Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) introduced important changes to its Rules of Procedure, policies and practices, of which implementation of the Individual Petition System Portal is an institutional priority after the strengthening process.

During the 153rd Period of Sessions, the IACHR will present the Prototype for the Portal, which will demonstrate the advantages and facilities that users of the Inter-American System will be able to avail themselves of once the Portal is in operation. This is intended to meet the requirement from the actors of the Inter-American System that mechanisms be improved to afford the States, petitioners and victims better access to petition and case files in electronic format.

The presentation will start with an introduction by the IACHR in which general aspects of the technology needed to automate processes will be presented as well the need to advance on the approach and access to the information on the Human Rights with the actors of the Inter-American system.

The presentation will take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Padilha Vidal Room, TL level of the OAS General Services Building in Washington, D.C. States, civil society organizations and other interested parties are welcome to attend. This event will be Webcast on the IACHR Webpage.
