Alejandra Henao has re-joined the
Department of Sustainable Development as an
Energy and Climate Partnership
of theAmericas (ECPA) Communications and Outreach
Specialist after finishing her master studies in International Development
at University of Bath, UK.Alejandra worked as a Commercial Specialist at the Commercial Service
Office at the United States Embassy in
Bogota
(October 2008-August 2011). Prior joining the United States Department of
Commerce, Alejandra was selected as the Colombia Director for Atlas Service
Corps (March 2007- September 2008), an international US-based non-profit
organization, responsible for managing the Colombia office, developing
multi-sectorial relationships, strategic alliances, designing project
proposals and fundraising strategies.In 2007, she concluded graduate studies in Government and Public
Policy at los AndesUniversity
in Bogota, Colombia.
Alejandra first joined DSD/OAS as a
Project Assistant to the Trade and Environment Division, (June 2004� July
2006) and during this time she pursued a graduate Certificate in
International Studies at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International
Studies-SAIS in Johns
HopkinsUniversity, which finished
in May 2006.She also holds a
Bachelor�s degree in International Relations and Geography from Florida
International University (FIU) with a concentration in Latin America and Caribbean (2003).
Alejandra has nearly eight years of
working experience and has done consultancy services and preliminary
investigations for reports on forced displacement financed by the UNHCR and
the Colombian Attorney General�s Office among other advising services.She is fluent in Spanish (native) and English (fluent) and has a
practical knowledge of French and Portuguese.
