Inter-American Strategy for the Promotion of Public Participation in Decision-Making for Sustainable Development - ISP

The ISP is a response to the mandate of the Heads of State and Governments of the hemisphere, as contained in the December 1996 Bolivia Summit on Sustainable Development, which states that: "In order to support the specific initiatives on public participation contained in the Plan of Action, entrust the OAS with assigning priority to the formulation of an inter-american strategy for the promotion of public participation in decision-making for sustainable development."
 

Information for Decision-Making for Sustainable Development for Caribbean Small Island Developing States - IDSD

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) have long expressed a concern regarding the lack of readily available data and information on the environment and the human impact on it, and the challenge this provides in charting a path to development which is sustainable. Countries in the Caribbean still require support in creating mechanisms for the long-term management of sustainable development and environment information and in defining ways to harness this information for decision-making purposes. The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (GS/OAS) and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) implemented this project as a step towards addressing these issues,
