This workshop, coordinated jointly by the OAS and the Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes of Chile, is part of the preparatory activities for the II Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture and Highest Appropriate Authorities of the OAS, which will take place this August in Mexico City.

Objectives :

1) To know the point of view, challenges and recommendations of civil society concerning the three central themes of the II Ministerial of Minister of Culture.

• Culture as an Engine for Economic Growth, Employment and Development
• Challenges Faced by Cultural and Creative Industries
• Culture as a Tool for Social Cohesion and the Fight Against Poverty

2) To discuss and learn the point of view, challenges and recommendations of civil society concerning the topic: Culture in the Time of Globalization: The International Convention for Cultural Diversity.

3) To elaborate a document containing the reflections of civil society organizations on the recommendations and strategies to ensure compliance with the Plan of Action of Mexico. This document will be presented during the plenary session of the II Ministerial Meeting.
