Technical Meetings of the Belize-Guatemala Joint Commission

Februrary 25, 2016
OAS Office in the Adjacency Zone

On February 25, 2016, more than eighty delegates from Belize and Guatemala gathered at the OAS Office in the Adjacency Zone to examine three of the thirteen bilateral agreements adopted in Placencia, Belize in 2014. The delegates first gathered at a plenary session, which later broke out into three working groups. Specifically, the working groups examined the “Agreement on the Harmonization of Operating Hours at Legal Entry Points;” “the Agreement for Sustainable Tourism” and the “Agreement for the Protection of the Environment.” All three working groups identified priority areas of collaboration, deadlines to meet the objectives set and a schedule of activities and follow-up meetings. The results of the working group exchanges and decisions were shared with all the delegates at the final plenary session.
