Section for Electoral Projects and Studies
Functions and Objectives The Electoral Studies and Projects Section (ESPS) is responsible for applied research activities, identifying best practices and/or lessons learned related with democracy and elections, as well as publishing and disseminating this information. In practice, the UES coordinates and facilitates research, publications, reports, conferences, seminars, and meetings, aimed towards building knowledge and exchanging best practices, experiences and lessons learned regarding elections and democracy in the region, as well as the activities to document and disseminate this knowledge.
The main objectives of the Electoral Studies and Projects Section (ESPS) are the following:
Develop applied research and analysis activities aimed at contributing to the ongoing improvement of electoral institutions and processes in the region and OAS election observation activities.
Coordinate the publication and distribution of political and research materials that deal with issues related to the holding democratic elections.
Promote discussions and analysis on electoral processes, and encourage the exchange of experiences and best practices in this area.
Prepare periodic reports on the development of electoral systems in the region and other related topics.
