  Based on the public participation process ongoing for more than seven years, when PROCUENCA-SAN JUAN Technical Units were established in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and intensified during the formulation of the Transboundary Diagnosis Analysis (TDA) and the execution of several elements (demonstration projects and basic studies) supporting the formulation of a Strategic Action Plan (SAP), these first 2002 public participation workshops are looking forward to:

  1. Initiate the dialogue process with the San Juan River Basin stakeholders for the preparation of the SAP;

  2. Establish thematic dialogues for the preparation of recommendations on the SAP formulation; and

  3. Establish additional mechanisms for strengthening coordination between Demonstrative Project and basic studies managers and incorporating other basin stakeholders.
