Meetings of the Steering Committee

Frequency: the Steering Committee meets, at least, twice a year. Extraordinary meetings are convened by request of any of its full members.

Location: whenever possible, the location of the meeting will be alternated between Costa Rica and Nicaragua so that, every year, one meeting is held in Costa Rica and one in Nicaragua. The last meeting will be held in Washington, D.C., at the GS/OAS Headquarters.

Call: the meeting are convened by the Minister of the Environment and Energy of Costa Rica or the Minister of the Environment and the Natural Resources of Nicaragua, according to their turn. The last meeting, which will take place in Washington, D.C., will be convened by the Director of the OSDE/OAS.

Documentation: the National Directors are responsible for making any documentation available to the members of the Steering Committee, at least, two weeks in advance.

Decision-making: at the end of every meeting, the minutes containing the agreements reached and approved documents is signed. Whenever the time does not permit to sign the minutes, they will be circulated among the full members for their signature, via ground mail or special mail.

The decision of the Steering Committee are made in agreement with all its full members.

Programs: the programs are prepared by the National Director of the Technical Unit host of the meeting, in consultation with the Technical Coordinators, the other National Director and the OSDE/OAS, in Washington, D.C. The program for the last meeting will be prepared by the OSDE/OAS, in consultation with the Technical Units and the Office of UNEP/GEF.
