Renewable Energy in the Americas (REIA) Initiative

OBJECTIVES

The Renewable Energy in the Americas (REIA) initiative provides for long-term hemispheric cooperation in renewable energy and energy efficiency.  REIA objectives are fourfold:

• Encourage, support and facilitate replicable projects in LAC;

• Build collaborative partnerships to accelerate the adoption of these technologies;

• Develop innovative strategies (political, financial, and institutional); and

• Highlight the benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency as an appropriate response to the UNCED Rio Accord.
