OAS ASSISTANT SECRETARY CALLS FOR GREATER DIALOGUE ON COOPERATION AT HIGH-LEVEL MEETING IN COLOMBIA
26 October - The Specialized Meeting of High-Level Cooperation Authorities in the framework of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) was inaugurated today in Bogotá, Colombia. The meeting will discuss the efficacy of hemispheric cooperation and the role that the Organization of American States (OAS) could play as a coordinating agent and forum for hemispheric dialogue in this area, as well as the opportunities to maximize regional cooperation and the mechanisms available for creating linkages and synergies to achieve greater impact. 21 July - The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Ambassador Albert Ramdin, participated today at a briefing session organized by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) on the inter-American Disaster Response Mechanisms, during which he affirmed that “natural disasters, from all perspectives, are not a technical issue, they are a development issue because all the different components of life in society are affected” and recommended to “focus on natural disaster from a more holistic, integrated and comprehensive perspective”.
