The Organization of Women of the Americas (OWA), is a non profit organization operated under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and founded in 1997 by the wives of the Ambassadors to the Organization of the American States (OAS). One of the principal objectives of OWA is to sensitize members of the public, the diplomatic community, and public and private institutions and entities in the United States of America and elsewhere, regarding the needs and problems of women and children , and to attempt to contribute to the solution of these needs and problems, by supporting specific projects directed to these unprotected groups in the Americas.

The main event organized by OWA since 1999 is the Food Festival of the Americas. It was born as an initiative with the aim to help charitable institutions, hospitals and organizations that attend and relieve the problems of women, and needy and unprotected children who migrate to the metropolitan area of Washington D.C.
