The 15th Annual Food Festival of the
Americas which will take place on the grounds of the Organization of
American States located at the corner of 17th and Constitution
Avenue, N.W. on May 19th, 2013 from 11:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.
The Food Festival is a fun filled family event, so
bring along your friends and all those who wish to be acquainted with the
culture and taste a sample of Latin American and Caribbean gastronomy. This
event transports the public to a corner of each participating country
through the tasting of typical meals, samples of crafts, music, dances and
customs. Guests also have the chance to participate in the grand raffle held
during the festival, offering a chance to win fabulous prizes such as
airline tickets, electronics, gift baskets and restaurant certificates.
This event takes place thanks to the participation of
many collaborators and sponsors, such as the Permanent and Observer Missions
the Organization of American States which contribute with food, drinks,
music and raffle prizes, and a substantial group of people, companies and
organizations that donate their time and money to the festival.
The key to the success of the Food Festival throughout
these years has been through the generosity of those people who
unconditionally work and contribute their time, money, skills, creativity
and workmanship to make it possible. With the help of over 120 volunteers
from the diplomatic missions, schools, parishes, congregations and
universities, it has been possible to increase the funds collected every
year in order to help the women and children of the Americas.
Proceeds from this event will benefit a charity
organization geared toward women and children in Guatemala. Its success
depends on your valuable support!!!
