OAS SECRETARY GENERAL EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES
OVER DEATH OF RONALD REAGAN

QUITO, Ecuador – The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), César Gaviria, today expressed condolences to the United States over the death of former President Ronald Reagan.

“On behalf of all the OAS member states, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of Ronald Reagan and to the government and people of the United States, who have lost one of their most charismatic leaders of recent times,” Gaviria said, after arriving here for the annual session of the OAS General Assembly.

“President Reagan brought to the White House a true sense of optimism about his country and a heartfelt belief in its core democratic values, which he was able to communicate effectively to the whole world,” the Secretary General said.
