General Information

The Natural Hazards Project (NHP), a division of the Office for Sustainable Development and Environment (OSDE) of the Organization of American States (OAS), lends support to the member states of the OAS to assess their vulnerability to natural hazards and mitigate the effects of disasters. Its activities include technical assistance, training and technology transfer through intervention in development planning and project formulation. Among its current areas of interest are floods, school buildings, and transportation corridors. A full list of projects is presented in the NHP Catalogue.
