EXECUTIVE ORDER No. 92-1
SUBJECT: CREATION AND STRUCTURE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC INFORMATION

 

THE SECRETARY GENERAL,

    In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Articles 114 and 118 of the Charter and Articles 4, 8, and 12 of the General Standards to Govern the Operations of the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States, and

CONSIDERING:

    That the activities of information and diffusion of the objectives and programs of the Organization of American States have acquired increasing priority and that, in consequence, the responsibilities and the volume of activity in that field have been enhanced within the last years.

RESOLVES:

    To create the Department of Public Information to replace the Office of Public Information, which was established by Executive Order No. 82-1, directly under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Secretary General and with the same responsibilities assigned to it under that Executive Order.

To establish the following service areas within the Department of Public Information:

Directorate

Press

Radio

Television

Public Relations

OAS Model General Assembly

Research, Production, and Information

Sales and Promotion of Publications

Americas Magazine

    This Executive Order supersedes all present norms, regulations, and practices of the General Secretariat to the contrary.

This Executive Order shall take effect on the date on which it is signed.
