Lorena Perez, an attorney in the Department of Legal Services, joined the General Secretariat in 2003.  Prior to joining the General Secretariat, she was an associate in the Washington, DC office of Baker Botts.  There, Ms. Perez was a member of the litigation, environmental and corporate groups, handling a broad range of issues with special focus on Latin America.

 

Ms. Perez received her Licenciatura en Derecho from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1992, and her LL.M. Degree in Common Law Studies from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC, in 1999.  She is admitted to practice law in the Dominican Republic, in New York and in the District of Columbia.  She is a member of the American Society of International Law, the American Bar Association and the Inter-American Bar Association, where she is a Council member and the Vice-Chair of the International Arbitration Law Committee.  She is also President of the Group of Dominican Professionals in Washington, DC, a non-profit organization.

 

Ms. Perez is Dominican.  She speaks Spanish and English fluently, and some French and Portuguese.  She is married and lives in Maryland.
