Ruben A. Farje

 
   

 Rubén A. Farje, Director of the Department of Legal Services, joined the legal staff of the General Secretariat in January, 1994. Since then, he has worked on various issues and matters related to the functions of the Organization, including litigating employment-related cases before the OAS Administrative Tribunal, negotiating settlements and agreements, and reviewing and revising technical cooperation agreements and procurement contracts, among others.

 Mr. Farje received Degrees in Law (equal to a Juris Doctor degree) and Political Science from the Universidad de Lima in Lima, Peru. His graduation Thesis was entitled Trading Companies: Alternatives for the Development of International Trade. In addition he has received a LL.M in International Law, with a concentration in International Economic Law, at Georgetown University Law Center, a LL.M in International Law at the Washington College of Law of the American University, and a Certificate in International Business Management at Georgetown University School of Business.

 Mr. Farje's previous professional experience at the General Secretariat includes working as a Research Assistant for the OAS Administrative Tribunal and for the Secretariat for Legal Affairs. In private practice, he worked as a Legal Assistant drafting corporate charters and bylaws, employment contracts, leases, mortgages, contracts for the sale of land, and memoranda concerning civil and commercial law.
