EXPERTS FROM COLOMBIA AND PERU ARE ELECTED AS THE NEW AUTHORITIES OF THE OAS ANTICORRUPTION MECHANISM

As part of the Twentieth Meeting of the Committee of Experts of the OAS Anticorruption Mechanism (MESICIC), held at OAS headquarters, the Secretary of Transparency, Carlos Fernando Galan, in his capacity as Lead Expert for Colombia, and the General Coordinator of the High Level Anticorruption Commission, Susana Silva Hasembank, in her capacity as Lead Exert for Peru, were elected by consensus and acclamation to serve as Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively, of the Committee of Experts of the Mechanism for the period 2012-2013.

The MESICIC (Follow-Up Mechanism for the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption) is an instrument of cooperation between States, with participation by civil society, established in the OAS, which reviews the legal-institutional framework of each country, its suitability for the Inter-American Convention against Corruption and the objective results obtained.

What is the MESICIC?

The Mechanism For Follow-up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, known as MESICIC for its Spanish acronym, is a tool to support the development of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption through cooperation between States Parties.
