BRAZIL VOLUNTEERS TO BE REVIEWED AT THE START OF THE NEXT ROUND OF REVIEW OF THE OAS ANTICORRUPTION MECHANISM

Brazil has joined the list of State Parties to the Mechanism for Follow-up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC), that have volunteered to be reviewed at the beginning of the Fourth Round of the Mechanism.

The Technical Secretariat of the MESICIC formally received this offer from Brazil, who, along with Guatemala, will be among the first group of countries to lead the sequence of review in the framework of the Fourth Round. The Fourth Round will begin in 2012 and include, for the first time, on-site visits to the States Parties that have expressed their consent to these visits.

The Technical Secretariat of the MESICIC expects to receive over the coming days similar notifications from other States Parties that have also expressed their interest in being reviewed at the start of the Fourth Round.
