ACHIEVEMENTS MADE BY THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPARENCY OF BOLIVIA IN 2013

On January 27, 2014, the Ministry for Institutional Transparency and the Fight against Corruption of the Plurinational State of Bolivia presented its 2013 management report, which reflects the results achieved by this State Ministry in the prevention and fight against corruption.

On that occasion, the Minister for Transparency and Lead Expert from Bolivia to the Committee of Experts of the OAS Anticorruption Mechanism (MESICIC), Dr. Nardi Suxo, noted, among other aspects, the recovery during of more than 3.5 million dollars in 2013, as a result of the application of the policies related to recovery of assets in the fight against corruption.

Minister Suxo also highlighted the holding of the “Caravan for Transparency” as one of the most important achievements of this Ministry in terms of the prevention of corruption, as well as the creation of 260 Transparency Units throughout the country and the holding of the III Transparency Summit under the topic of access to information, which had the participation of the Technical Secretariat of the MESICIC, of the OAS Department of Legal Cooperation.

The Mechanism For Follow-up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, known as MESICIC for its Spanish acronym, is a tool to support the development of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption through cooperation between States Parties.
