LIVE WEBCAST – MEETING OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS WITH OAS ANTI-CORRUPTION MECHANISM

On Monday, September 9, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM (EST), the Committee of Experts of the Mechanism for Follow-up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC) will meet with representatives of Transparency International and its national chapters of Chile (Chile Transparente), Colombia (Transparencia por Colombia), Guatemala (Acción Ciudadana) and Panama (Fundación para el Desarrollo de la Libertad Ciudadana). These organizations are invited to participate in this meeting as they submitted an independent response to the questionnaire of the Fourth Round on the implementation in these States of the Inter-American Convention, within the timeframe and terms of the MESICIC regulations. The documents submitted by these civil society organizations are available here.

This meeting will allow the 31 States that make up the MESICIC to hear the perspectives of these organizations on the implementation of the Inter-American Convention, prior to the country review process which will be carried out by the Committee at its Twenty-Second Plenary Meeting.

The MESICIC is an intergovernmental mechanism, which in its regulation allows for broad participation of non-governmental and civil society organizations.

The Mechanism For Follow-up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption, known as MESICIC for its Spanish acronym, is a tool to support the development of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption through cooperation between States Parties.
