MESICIC Committee of Experts to Review
Six Countries
Colombia, Panama, Chile, El Salvador,
Dominican Republic and the Bahamas will be reviewed during the Twelfth Plenary
Meeting of the MESICIC Committee of Experts, which takes place December 3-8 at
OAS headquarters in Washington, DC. Each country will be reviewed in light of
the progress made in implementing specific measures from the Inter-American
Convention against Corruption, including measures related to government hiring
and procurement and whistle blower protection.
Prior to the opening of the plenary
meeting, the Committee with hear informal oral reports from civil society
regarding implementation of the selected Convention measures in the six
countries under review.
The Mechanism for the Follow-up on the
Implementation of the Inter-American Convention (known as MESICIC for its
Spanish acronym) is in the midst of its Second Round of Review, which began in
April of last year and is scheduled to be completed in December 2008. At the
conclusion of the Second Round, country reports will have been adopted for all
28 States Parties to the MESICIC. Please visit our

Honduras to Review National
Anti-Corruption Plan of Action
Honduras will hold a national conference
January 16-17, 2008 to discuss a National Plan of Action for fighting
corruption. The Plan of Action, which provides a detailed roadmap for
implementing the recommendations made by the Committee of Experts of the
Mechanism for Follow-up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention
against Corruption (MESICIC), will be discussed by representatives of the
legislative and judicial branches, civil society, the private sector and
international lending and cooperation agencies.

as part of a technical cooperation project supported by the OAS Anti-Corruption

Peru Hosts APEC Anti-Corruption Meeting
Officials from APEC Member Economies met in
Lima October 29-31 to enhance opportunities to stamp out corruption, deny safe
