DEADLINE FOR UPDATING OF RESPONSES AND SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS WITH RESPECT TO STATES THAT WILL BE ANALYZED AT THE EIGHTH AND NINTH MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF EXPERTS 

For the purpose of accelerating the process of analysis, and taking into account the decisions of the Conference of the States Parties of MESICIC, the Committee of Experts, at its Sixth Meeting, agreed that with respect to those States whose preliminary draft reports will be considered at the Eighth and Ninth Meetings of the Committee, the deadline for States to update their responses as well as for the submission of documents by civil society organizations with respect to those States (Article 33(b) of the Committee's Rules of Procedure), shall be a month and a half before the meeting immediately preceding the meeting at which those reports will be considered. 

In the schedule agreed to by the Committee in order to accelerate the process of analysis within the framework of the first round, precise dates are set for the States to update their responses and for civil society organizations to submit documents in relation to those States in accordance with Article 33(b) of the Rules of Procedure. 

According to that schedule, those deadlines are as follows: 

January 1 to 31, 2005: Canada; United States; Jamaica; Guatemala; Guyana; and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.  

July 20 to August 20, 2005: Grenada; Suriname; Brazil; and Belize.
