AG/RES. 1538 (XXVIII-O/98)
COOPERATION BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES AND THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY
(Resolution adopted at the third plenary session, held on June 2, 1998)
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,
HAVING SEEN the report of the General Secretariat on the implementation of resolution AG/RES. 1470 (XXVII-O/97), "Cooperation between the Organization of American States and the Caribbean Community,"
RESOLVES:
1. To take note of the report of the Secretary General on the implementation of resolution AG/RES. 1470 (XXVII-O/97).
2. To renew its request to the Secretary General that he continue efforts to intensify and enhance cooperative ties between the Organization of American States and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
3. To express to the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS its satisfaction with the organization of the Second OAS-CARICOM General Meeting on Cooperation, which took place at OAS headquarters on April 23 and 24, 1998, pursuant to resolution AG/RES. 1470 (XXVII-O/97).
4. To request the General Secretariat to establish a mechanism for following up on joint technical cooperation activities with a view to attainment of the objectives agreed upon at the Second OAS-CARICOM General Meeting on Cooperation.
5. To request the Secretary General to report to the General Assembly at its twenty-ninth regular session on the implementation of this resolution.
