AG/RES. 1444 (XXVI-O/96)

MEETING OF EXPERTS IN THE AREA OF ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND TECHNOLOGIES FOR SMALL- AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES

(Resolution adopted at the eighth plenary session, held on June 7, 1996)

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

HAVING SEEN the Report of the Permanent Council on the Meeting of Experts in the Area of Environmentally Sound Technologies for Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises (AG/doc.3315/96); and

CONSIDERING:

That the General Assembly, at its twenty-fourth regular session, by means of resolution AG/RES. 1300 (XXIV-O/94), decided to hold a Meeting of Experts in the Area of Environmentally Sound Technologies;

That the Permanent Council, at its regular meeting of February 1, 1995, in accordance with the provisions of resolution AG/RES. 1300 (XXIV-O/94), adopted the agenda for the Meeting by means of resolution CP/RES. 644 (1016/95) and agreed that the Meeting would deal specifically with small- and medium-sized enterprises;

That the General Assembly, at its twenty-fifth regular session, took note of the Permanent Council's report on the Meeting of Experts in the Area of Environmentally Sound Technologies and decided, by means of resolution AG/RES. 1347 (XXV-O/95), to hold that meeting prior to its twenty-sixth regular session;

That, on August 30, 1995, as instructed in resolution AG/RES. 1347 (XXV-O/95), the Permanent Council determined that the meeting would be held from November 14 to 16, 1995; and

That the Meeting of Experts in the Area of Environmentally Sound Technologies for Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises was held in Ottawa, Canada, from November 14 to 16, 1995, under the auspices of the Government of Canada,

RESOLVES:

1. To take note of the report of the Permanent Council on the Meeting of Experts in the Area of Environmentally Sound Technologies for Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises.

2. To request the Inter-American Council for Integral Development to take such action as it deems necessary to monitor and implement the recommendations of the Meeting.

3. To request the Inter-American Council for Integral Development to report to the General Assembly at its twenty-seventh regular session on the monitoring activities thus performed.

4. To thank the Government of Canada for its offer to host the Meeting in Ottawa and for its generous assistance in coordinating and holding the Meeting.
