REPORT OF THE JOINT CEPCIES/CEPCIECC WORKING GROUP IN CHARGE OF THE TRANSITION TO CIDI

(Resolution adopted at the eighth plenary session, held on June 7, 1996)

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

HAVING SEEN:

Resolution AG/RES. 1314 (XXV-O/95), "Inter-American Cooperation for Integral Development," and resolution AG/RES. 1354 (XXV-O/95), "Partnership for Development and Struggle to Overcome Extreme Poverty";

The Report of the Joint CEPCIES/CEPCIECC Working Group in Charge of the Transition to CIDI; and

CONSIDERING:

That the Protocol of Managua amending the Charter entered into force on January 29, 1996;

That the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) has taken steps to consolidate the transition of the Inter-American Economic and Social Council (CIES) and the Inter-American Council for Education, Science, and Culture (CIECC) to CIDI; and

That, once its Statutes are approved, CIDI will begin to operate fully,

RESOLVES:

1. To note with satisfaction the report presented by the Joint CEPCIES/CEPCIECC Working Group in Charge of the Transition to CIDI (GTC).

2. To thank the GTC for the work done to make CIDI operative.

3. To dissolve the GTC and, in compliance with the pertinent resolutions, to instruct CIDI to continue, through CEPCIDI, the work entrusted to the GTC by the General Assembly.
