(Resolution adopted at the eighth plenary session, held on June 7, 1996)

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

CONSIDERING:

That, with the Protocol of Managua, which entered into force on January 29, 1996, the Inter-American Economic and Social Council (CIES) and the Inter-American Council for Education, Science, and Culture (CIECC) ceased to exist, the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI) was created, and certain articles of the Charter were modified;

That the references in the General Standards to Govern the Operations of the General Secretariat to the articles of the Charter and the Councils of the Organization must be edited to reflect the Protocol of Managua; and

That, by resolution AG/RES. 4 (XXII-E/96), the General Assembly instructed the Permanent Council "to review the changes in budgetary procedures presented by the Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Affairs" and authorized the Permanent Council "to adopt new budgetary procedures and the corresponding modifications to the General Standards based on that review,"

RESOLVES:

To authorize the Permanent Council, in conjunction with its mandate under resolution AG/RES. 4 (XXII-E/96), to adopt those editorial changes to the General Standards necessary to conform them to the requirements of the Protocol of Managua.
