MEETING BACKGROUND

Resolution AG/RES. 2068 (XXXV-O/05), “Meeting of Ministers of Justice or of Ministers or Attorneys General of the Americas”, at resolutive paragraph 2, requests that the Permanent Council convoke - pursuant to the “Conclusions and Recommendations of REMJA-V” and resolutions AG/RES. 2019 (XXXIV-O/04), AG/RES. 2026 (XXXIV-O/04) and AG/RES.2040 (XXXIV-O/04) – prior to the holding of REMJA-VI, the IV Meeting of the Group of Governmental Experts on Cyber-Crime.

Pursuant to that mandate, the Permanent Council adopted resolution CP/RES. 896 (1524/05), convoking this event.

OBJECTIVES

Bearing in mind the mandate assigned by the General Assembly, by REMJA-V and the recommendations adopted during the III Meeting of this Group of Experts, the IV Meeting of Experts on Cyber-Crime will address the issues that have been included in the draft agenda for the meeting.

The draft agenda, which has been prepared by the Chair of this Group with the support of the Technical Secretariat, will be considered at the beginning of the meeting.
