OBSERVATIONS: For each State ratifying or acceding to the Convention after the deposit of the second instrument of ratification, the Convention shall enter into force on the thirtieth day after deposit by such State of its instruments of ratification or accession.

 B-50: INTER-AMERICAN CONVENTION ON JURISDICTION IN THE INTERNATIONAL
SPHERE FOR THE EXTRATERRITORIAL VALIDITY OF FOREIGN JUDGMENTS

 

a. Mexico:                                                                              
   (Declaration made at the time of ratification.)                            
  "Article 11 Mexico declares that this instrument shall be applied to determine the validity of jurisdiction in the international sphere referred to in Article 2d) of the Inter-American Convention on Extraterritorial Validity of Foreign Judgments and Arbitral Awards, without prejudice to Mexico's prerogative to apply this Convention independently.

 

b. Uruguay:

(Declaration made at the time of ratification of the Convention) 

The Oriental Republic of Uruguay declares as follows: 

1. With regard to Article 7:

The Oriental Republic of Uruguay will also apply this Convention to rulings that end proceedings, to the decisions of authorities that exercise some jurisdictional function, and to judgments in penal proceedings ordering compensation for damages resulting from an offense. 

2. With regard to Article 12: 

The Oriental Republic of Uruguay will apply this instrument to determine the validity of the competence in the international sphere referred to in Article 2.d of the Inter-American Convention on Extraterritorial Validity of Foreign Judgments and Arbitral Awards, signed in the city of Montevideo on May 8, 1979, without prejudice to its ability to order the application of this Convention independently.
