PROTECTED SPECIES is a species of fauna or flora under protection due to its risk of becoming extinct because of its low population, over-hunting/fishing, environmental change, predation, or other reasons. PROHIBITED SPECIES is a species of fauna or flora that is prohibited by national law due to its invasive qualities to the environment, poses a danger to persons, or other potential to cause harm.
