The Many Hats Institute (MHI) was founded in 1999 to serve as a non-profit, non-governmental, 501 © (3) organization dedicated to improving the conditions for youth worldwide. It is a network of professionals from various backgrounds who raise funds and provide technical assistance to promote community development and engage youth as resources to their communities. The Strategy of the institute is to leverage time, talent, and resources from the "MANY HATTERS" around the world. The ultimate objective is EMPOWERMENT-empowerment of youth and empowerment of the people who want to help youth, as quickly as possible in as many places as possible.   In 2003, MHI teamed up with the Harvard Business School Volunteer Consulting Organization (VCO), which provides Harvard business and graduate students with the opportunity to provide consulting services on various projects for non-profits, governments, and business organizations.  In 2001, MHI partnered with various Ambassadors of Latin America and created a Committee to raise awareness and resources for the Western Hemisphere. In May of the following year, this committee organized a concert featuring Placido Domingo to benefit the victims of the earthquakes in Central America. In October of 2002, MHI helped organize a polo match to assist children in hospitals in Argentina. Then in December, MHI provided matching funds for all ticket sales of the Saks Jandel Holiday Fashion Show to Rinconces Dance Company's Nina's Kids Fund, which supports outreach programs for kids. This year, the MHI Ambassadors Committee teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund and the Nature Conservancy to raise funds and awareness of their work and efforts with young volunteers in the preservation of the Atlantic Forest.
