Additionally, the President of the Electoral Tribunal of Panama, Dr. Erasmo Pinilla Escudero, was elected president of the working Group. Read the Document... The OAS and the National Registry of Persons (RENAP) of Guatemala today extended their partnership with the signing of a technical cooperation agreement aimed at removing barriers to the effective registration of people who lack identity documents in the Central American country.

Costa Rica will offer electronic voting for citizens living abroad
On July 23rd the Secretariat for Political Affairs and the Secretariat for Integral Development carried out a Workshop with parliamentarians of El Salvador to generate spaces for open dialogue for the promotion of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices. DECO/SPA deployed a mission to support the development of an electronic voting system that will be implemented in the consulates during the presidential elections of 2014. It will be the first time Costa Ricans will be able to vote abroad.

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Escuela Superior de Administración Pública of Colombia (ESAP) signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement to facilitate the exchange of experiences as well as promoting the education, training and research of leaders and public managers in the region. DECO/SPA is carrying out an assessment for the potential implementation of quality management and certification systems supported by ISO standards in the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) in Lima and in the National Electoral Council in Quito. The SPA and the Andean Parliament hold a high-level conference entitled “Meeting of Young Legislators, Entrepreneurs and Civil Society of the Americas: The Role of Legislative Institutions in Development” on July 31, in Bogota, Colombia.



Presentation of MuNet achievements in Patzun, Guatemala PAHO and OAS join forces to promote the right to health in the Americas DEPM signed an agreement with the city of Aiquile, Bolivia to strengthen their cadastral capacities
Among their achievements, Mayor Mardoqueo Cancax Sacach highlighted the improvement of IT equipment, the training of public employees, increased transparency, and the availability of social networks that enabled new participation channels for citizens. A total of 65 students from 15 countries participated.
