OAS holds virtual course on Inter-American Law for the Diplomatic Academy of Ecuador
On
January 18, 2022, began the virtual
course on Inter-American Law for the Diplomatic
Academy of Ecuador, which will last
five weeks, ending on February 14, 2022.
Part of the Inter-American Program for the
Development of International Law adopted by the
OAS General Assembly in 1996 and updated in
2011, these activities also fulfill an OAS
mandate to promote training and knowledge
exchange with the region’s foreign affairs
ministries.
This OAS course will examine the structure and
evolution of the OAS as well as developments in
terms of the promotion of democracy and the
codification and progressive development of
international law in the Inter-American system.
Likewise, the latest legal development will be
featured.
Those on hand for the opening session of the
Ecuador course included Ambassador Carlos Játiva,
Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the OAS;
Ambassador Alejandro Suárez, Director of the
Diplomatic Academy of Ecuador; Dr. Jean-Michel
Arrighi, OAS Secretary for Legal Affairs; and
Dr. Dante Negro, Director of the OAS Department
of International Law.
