Completion of the 1st hybrid refresher course on Inter-American Juridical System for the Diplomatic Institute of El Salvador
On Friday, July 15, the
1st hybrid refresher course on Inter-American Juridical System for the Diplomatic Institute “Dr. Jose Gustavo Guerrero” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador was completed. This course was organized by the
Department of International Law of the
Secretariat for Legal Affairs of the
Organization of American States (OAS), with the
sponsorship of the Diplomatic Institute of that
country and lasted five days (July 11 -15,
2022).
Part of the Inter-American Program for the
Development of International Law adopted by the
OAS General Assembly in 1996 and updated in
2011, these activities also fulfill an OAS
mandate to promote training and knowledge
exchange with the region’s foreign affairs
ministries.
The sessions of this course analyzed the
following topics: i) background and evolution of
the Inter-American system; ii) private
international law and access to justice; iii)
binding and non-binding agreements; iv)
international commercial contracts; v) access to
credit: simplified corporations, secure
transactions and electronic warehouse receipts
for agricultural products; vi) human rights
conventions on racism, discrimination and
intolerance; vii) American declaration on the
rights of indigenous peoples; viii)
neuroscience, neuro-technologies and human
rights; and ix) food security.
The closing session of the Course was attended
by Ambassador Agustín Vásquez, Permanent
Representative of El Salvador to the OAS and Dr.
Dante Negro, Director of the Department of
International Law of the OAS.
