Department of International Law celebrates International Day for Data Protection by launching publication of Updated Principles for Privacy and Protection of Personal Data

On January 18, 2022, began the virtual course on Inter-American Law for the Diplomatic Academy of Ecuador, which will last five weeks, ending on February 14, 2022.

Part of the Inter-American Program for the Development of International Law adopted by the OAS General Assembly in 1996 and updated in 2011, these activities also fulfill an OAS mandate to promote training and knowledge exchange with the region’s foreign affairs ministries.

This OAS course will examine the structure and evolution of the OAS as well as developments in terms of the promotion of democracy and the codification and progressive development of international law in the Inter-American system. Likewise, the latest legal development will be featured.

Those on hand for the opening session of the Ecuador course included Ambassador Carlos Játiva, Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the OAS; Ambassador Alejandro Suárez, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Ecuador; Dr. Jean-Michel Arrighi, OAS Secretary for Legal Affairs; and Dr. Dante Negro, Director of the OAS Department of International Law.
