The Department of International Law Participates in Inter-American Law Forum

The Department of International Law (DIL) of the OAS Secretariat for Juridical Affairs was invited to participate in the First Inter-American International Law Forum in Campinas, Brazil.

The event, which took place on July 29 of this year, was organized by the Law School of the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas. In attendance were law school graduate students and faculty members from said University as well as from the University of the South of Minas. The event addressed topics related to the current OAS agenda, the most recent legal developments at the Inter-American Juridical Committee, and treaty-making.

A scientific meeting was also organized with researchers from the University, which allowed for an in-depth reflection on topics of interest in the field of international law.

The Department of International Law Participates in Inter-American Law Forum

The Department’s presence is in fulfillment of the mandate to promote, teach, and disseminate inter-American law established by the Inter-American Program for the Development of International Law approved by the General Assembly in 1997 and updated in 2011.

The DIL promotes the codification and progressive development of both public and private international law, advises the political organs of the Organization, and serves as Technical Secretariat of the Inter-American Juridical Committee (CJI).
