46th Course on International Law concludes successfully

The 46th Course on International Law organized by the Inter-American Juridical Committee and the Department of International Law (Secretariat for Legal Affairs) of the OAS, concluded successfully in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 9th.

For the first time in its history, this academic activity was held in the campus of the Faculdade Nacional de Direito de la Universidade Federal Do Rio de Janeiro (FND-UFRJ), co-sponsored by its Inter-American Nucleus for Human Rights.

Throughout the three week course, the 46 participants from different countries from the Americas and Europe learned about various topics in the field of public and private international law, as well as new legal developments in the Inter-American system. The faculty included officials from international organizations, academics, judges, arbiters, internationalists and diplomats. The students also had the opportunity to participate in an unstructured and open dialogue with the Secretary General of the OAS.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Chair, Vice-Chair and members of the Inter-American Juridical Committee; the Secretary for Legal Affairs of the OAS; the Director of the Department of International Law; and Professor Marcia Souza on behalf of the FND-UFRJ, as well as diplomatic and consular authorities of the Member States and Brazilian academics and officials.
