On the subject of promotion of international law in the region, Dr. Stewart gave a report on the XXXIX Course on International Law, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 6 to 24, 2012. In all, 35 participants attended the course, the theme of which was Law and Current International Relations. He also announced that the Inter-American Juridical Committee would hold its next regular session at its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in August 2013, coinciding with the XL edition of the Course on International Law, which the Committee organizes each year in partnership with the OAS Department of International Law.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Stewart noted the Committees desire to continue carrying out its work in an active and positive way, giving each of the topics under its examination the importance it deserves.

The Chair of the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs, Ambassador Andrs Gonzlez Das, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the OAS, extended, through Dr. Stewart, his gratitude and appreciation to the Inter-American Juridical Committee for its work on the development and codification of international law.
