Program of Action to strengthen the participation of
indigenous peoples in the Inter-American system
The Department of International Law (DIL) has an Action Program aimed at
increasing the strengths, skills, and capacities of the indigenous
peoples of the Americas through training and empowerment events.
The DIL awards scholarships for workshops and training courses to
indigenous leaders and to public officials and persons from NGOs who
work with indigenous peoples.
The DIL offers courses on good governance, the inter-American system,
and political participation by women, as well as workshops on the
logical framework approach to project preparation.
The Specific Fund to Support the Elaboration of the American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
The Specific Fund of Voluntary Contributions to Support the Elaboration
of the American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples provides
financial support for participation by indigenous peoples’
representatives in the efforts by the Working Group to Prepare the Draft
American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, as well as in
other activities of the Group. This financial support is limited to
defraying the costs directly related to the participation by indigenous
peoples’ representatives in the process of elaborating the Draft
Declaration, including travel, per diem, and health insurance expenses
and those directly related to the logistics of the Indigenous Peoples’
caucus.
