The
Department of International Law of the Secretariat
for Legal Affairs, and the
AMA | Art Museum of the Americas
are pleased to present a photographic exhibit called
"Indigenous Perspectives." The exhibit depicts
various aspects of the daily life of the indigenous
peoples in our Hemisphere: their culture, work, art,
history, and environment. It offers a glimpse of 21
photographs selected on the basis of their beauty,
creativity, and originality from 520 images
submitted. “Kayapó Body Painting” -- the photo that
won first prize -- captures children expressing
themselves through art in the Kayapó community in
the Brazilian Amazon.
This initiative forms part of the Department of
international Law's Program of Action on the
Indigenous Peoples of the Americas. It is possible
thanks to funding from the German International
Cooperation Agency (GIZ) at the behest of the
Federal German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and
