New regional commitment urges digital inclusion

Participating in today's "digital economy" driven by advances made in telecommunications and information and communication technologies (ICT) was once again recognized by countries as "an essential element for the promotion of economic growth, competitiveness and access to knowledge through information, contributing to the eradication of poverty and the integration of all countries”. With a renewed pledge to advance as a region in this area, Ministers and other authorities from OAS member states responsible for telecommunications adopted the Declaration of Santo Domingo at the Sixth Assembly of the Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL) on February 10 to 13, 2014 in the Dominican Republic.  » Read more

OAS and the Mexican State of Puebla sign Agreement to Promote Integral Development. The agreement, signed by OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza and the Governor of the state of Puebla, Rafael Moreno Valle, establishes the bases for cooperation between the organization and Puebla for the “design and development of actions, programs and projects aimed at the strengthening of public policies related to integral development”.» Read more

OAS - PAHO agreement to provide scholarship opportunities in the area of health. The OAS and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) joined efforts to provide new scholarships to strengthen the technical and research abilities of those working in the field of health. The first scholarships will be offered in the next call of the scholarship program for studies in Brazil.

OAS and Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia announce new scholarship opportunities. As part of the government’s efforts to strengthen ties with the Americas, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will support the OAS Academic Scholarship Program with an offer of 15 scholarships each year for five years for any undergraduate degree program offered by the University for Information Science and Technology St. Paul the Apostle, in the city of Ohrid. » Read more
