Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

Ms. Maria Mercedes Ciudad-Real (a.k.a. Marita) serves as Principal Assistant to the Director of the Department of Sustainable Development (DSD) of the Organization of American States where she is responsible for providing overall administrative, human resources procedures, logistical, operational and research support to the Director of the DSD on a daily basis on projects and other matters related to the ongoing activities of the Department.
She is a native of Guatemala with over 10 years experience in administrative and technical management within the OAS. She graduated from American University with a Bachelor’s in the Arts Degree in Interior Design and the title of Legal Assistant from George Washington University. In 2003, Marita was awarded the Outstanding Performance Award for the Department of Sustainable Development.
Prior to joining the OAS, she worked at the Inter-American Development Bank, where she did her summer internships while still in school. This experience led Maria to join the OAS, as project assistant in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the OAS, focusing on economic and telecommunications projects.
In addition, she is further responsible for monitoring and ensuring that Department’s activities and deliverables are timely and in keeping with the work plan approved by the Director. Marita is fluent in Spanish, English and French.
