Second Sustainable Energy Awareness Workshop for Educators in the Caribbean

The Organization of American States (OAS) through its Department of Sustainable Development and the Energy Department of the Caribbean Community Secretariat (CARICOM) in collaboration with the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) co-hosted three regional workshops on sustainable energy from September 10 -14, 2012 in Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The intended result of the workshops were to prepare the official delegates to use the materials developed under the two EU-funded initiatives Caribbean Renewable Energy Capacity Support (CRECS) executed by CARICOM and the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Program (CSEP) through the Caribbean Energy Awareness and Education Programme (CEEAP) executed by OAS.

More specifically, the OAS through CSEP aim to pilot CEAAP materials in at least eight schools in 2012-2013, as we wish to involve the teachers and learners in a well-paced, interactive implementation process and provide them with an opportunity to participate in refining the materials and the methodology with a view to upgrading learner performance throughout the Caribbean, and thus promote the education of sustainable energy for all.
