Each year in April, the OAS Board of External Auditors publishes a report covering the previous calendar year’s financial results. Reports covering 1996-2016 may be found here.

Dotar de conocimientos teóricos y prácticos sobre los Pagos por Servicios
Ambientales (PSA) asociados a ecosistemas naturales, a funcionarios de gobierno
de los países de las Américas, como herramienta para la toma de decisiones de
política en la conservación de los recursos naturales, y el desarrollo económico
y social en áreas rurales.
Objetivos Específicos
Presentar las bases
conceptuales de la economía ambiental que soportan el diseño
de mecanismos PSA.
Analizar las
oportunidades y desafiaos de los PSA para la region.
Establecer una
metodología para el diseño e implementación de PSA que
incluya elementos de valoración de Servicios Ambientales,
aspectos biofísicos de usos del suelo e institucionales.
Realizar análisis de
estudios de caso de esquemas de PSA de Latino America y el
Caribe para eveluar su efectividad en términos ambientales y
económicos y para evaluar su potencial de replica.
Conocer los detalles

Durante el transcurso
del curso se revisarán estudios de caso que en combinación con la teoría
permitirá evaluar cuando los PSA son un instrumento de mercado apropiado para
lograr objetivos de conservación, y como los esquemas de PSA deben ser diseñados
para soportar los distintos tipos de servicios ambientales. Los estudios de caso
podrán ir desde, por ejemplo, un acuerdo entre privados en una microcuenca
específica, hasta el estudio de un esquema de cobertura nacional como el de
Costa Rica, y mas allá, hacia esquemas internacionales de PSA, donde
beneficiarios globales pagan por servicios ambientales producidos en otros
países. Al final del curso se dará un certificado de asistencia.
