IX Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Education


Date: February 9-10, 2017

Place: Nassau, The Bahamas

DESCRIPTION: Under the slogan "The Inter-American Educational Agenda: Building Alliances and Advancing Towards the Sustainable Development Goals," this meeting provided a space for Ministers of Education to analyze, and discuss, the most pressing educational issues in the region: inclusive and equitable quality education; professional teacher development; and comprehensive care for early childhood.

During the meeting, the Inter-American Educational Agenda (IEA) was adopted which marks a milestone to improve the quality of education in the Americas. The IEA defines a series of actions to advance and strengthen the inter-American cooperation to ensure inclusive & equitable quality education; promoting opportunities for lifelong learning as a follow-up to the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.
